Description

The Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke is seeking a talented and skilled individual to join our Maintenance Department as an HVAC Refrigerator Mechanic. The selected candidate will perform a variety of tasks to include, but not limited to, installing and maintaining heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and related fixtures.

Schedule:

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position working Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.

Duties and Responsibilities (please note that this list is not all-inclusive):

Participates in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of computer operated chilled water air conditioning and ventilation systems
Responsible for inspection and monitoring of various types of machinery, equipment, and systems such as steam traps, heat control panels, safety valves and gauges. High and low water converters and/or steam reducing stations, gas systems, and various types of generators such as diesel and steam
Responsible for various types of pumps and water pumping stations, and pressure control systems, electrical systems, steam and water lines
Responsible for refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation systems, including filter changes.
Develops and maintains a thorough maintenance records of all equipment
Performs preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance on all air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation and heating equipment as required
Participates in the operation of steam lines, hot water tanks, chilled water lines and cooling towers
Assists other trades as necessary
Completes all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual preventive maintenance task in facility tracking system
Responsible for all reclaiming and recovery of refrigerants

Required Qualifications:

Current and valid Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician’s license
Mechanic aptitude and manual dexterity
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time and lift/carry heavy objects
Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships
Ability to deal tactfully with others

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in a healthcare setting working with multiple disciplines and vendors

Salary: 43,337.32 – 58,062.68 Yearly
