GRADE S-6 Starting Salary $21.87/hr
The Floating Finance Clerk performs administrative and clerical services in support of the operations of the Town of West Springfield. The employee will support any Town departments and act as a backup to other clerical/administrative staff. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.
Examples of Duties
Provides general clerical support to various departments;
Act as a backup for other clerical staff;
Screens all incoming telephone calls and visitors; responds to inquiries and handles routine matters while directing unusual matters to supervisor or appropriate authority. Must have knowledge of department and City policies/programs and be able to communicate effectively;
Work involves data entry using various computer programs depending upon the department in which the individual is deployed;
Typing documents and letters, copying and/or scanning documents and records;
Prepare and process bills and other documents as needed;
Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll as needed;
Receives, sorts and delivers incoming mail;
General filing (either paper or electronic) of department records; and
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience: Graduate of a two year college with an Associate’s degree with three to five (3-5) years related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
