Job Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Assistant Director, Center for International Student Engagement position. The Assistant Director, Center for International Student Engagement is a full-time, year-round position, starting at $50,908 – commensurate with experience. Amherst Colleges Center for International Student Engagement (CISE) serves as an important resource to the international student campus community by building and supporting initiatives and student engagement that center on a global perspective. The Assistant Director upholds the mission of CISE to provide education, support, community, and advocacy to and on behalf of our international students and works to create and offer immersive opportunities for co-curricular learning and leadership development. Rooted in the framework of intersectionality, the CISE serves as a space where the Amherst community can participate in conversations that expand our collective understanding of global experiences.
Reporting to the Director of CISE, the Assistant Director is responsible for a range of administrative and programmatic tasks, from planning pre-orientation to developing effective peer mentorship programs. The Assistant Director plays a key role to provide resources and services, coordinate educational and social programs that foster international student community-building and intercultural growth, and create opportunities for international students to express, learn from, and value individual and intersecting identities.

The Assistant Director of CISE will work collaboratively on shared projects and initiatives with the constitutive departments of the Office of Identity and Cultural Resources composed of Amhersts six identity/affinity-based resource center departments, including: the Center for International Student Engagement, Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, Class and Access Resource Center, Multicultural Resource Center, Queer Resource Center, and the Womens & Gender Center. The Assistant Director will work with various campus partners and stakeholders to fulfill the departments mission through educational, social, and cultural programming that centers and affirms the various communities the Center serves.
