YOUTH AND FAMILY SUPPORT COUNSELOR
SALARY: $50,000-60,000 – Full time/Exempt

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Programs, the Youth and Family Support Counselor will be responsible for supporting youth members of Girls Inc. and their families through groups and case work services. This position generally requires the candidate’s physical presence at our office in Holyoke, MA, with the opportunity for occasional remote work. The Youth and Family Support

Counselor will:
Build relationships with Girls Inc. program staff, participants, school partners, community contacts and Girls Inc.?s mental health consultant to implement after-school, site-based and/or virtual programs in alignment with our mission and in support of youth mental health
– Develop and implement pro-social curricula to address the emerging needs of youth today
– Be a strong group facilitator and have an understanding and appreciation for harm reduction and trauma-informed principles
– Launch new substance use and mental health support group programming
– Provide short-term individual or family counseling
– Make community resource referrals
– Complete monthly grant reporting and billing
– Conduct client intakes and quarterly assessments

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
– Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, psychology or comparable field
– Passion for the Girls Inc. mission
– An awareness of and commitment to social justice education and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion within the organization including support for gender equity, reproductive justice, trans rights and anti-racism
– High level of comfort and skill with computer applications, technology, email, Zoom, Microsoft Suite, and Google Suite
– Sense of humor and ability to roll with the ever-changing nature of working with youth

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
– Licensure preferred (LCSW, LICSW, LMHC)
– Experience in harm reduction, peer support, youth development and/or school settings
– Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates given favorable consideration
– Valid driver’s license, with good driving record, and ability to drive a 15-passenger van
