Job Description

Summary:

To provide therapy to help reduce or eliminate speech and hearing impediments that interfere with the individual student’s ability to derive full benefits from the districts educational program. To provide therapy services to special education students with a variety of needs and severity of disabilities to help students develop the strength and skills needed to participate in the school environment.

Job Requirements

Skills in evaluation and diagnosis of various communication disorders with different populations and ages including but not limited to Auditory Processing and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults.

Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and therapy strategies.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirements.

Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred, from an accredited college or university, in a related field.

Licensed, or eligible for licensure in Speech, Language, & Hearing Disorders by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, to include Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement.

Licensed as Speech-Language Pathologist by the Commonwealth of MA Division of Professional Licensure (Board of Speech-Language Path Audiology).

Certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Bachelor degree preferred
