Position Title: Senior Treatment Plant Operator -2022-160
Employment Status: Non-Exempt; Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Salary: UFCW Admin, Grade A10, Step 1 ? Starting at 26.02 per hour
Licenses/Certifications: Valid Class D Driver?s License (Required), Active Grade 6C WWTP Operator’s License (Required)
SUMMARY
The City of Chicopee’s Department of Public Works – Water Pollution Control Division is hiring a Senior Treatment Plant Operator who will Supervise, plan, direct, and participate in the day to day as well as long term operations and maintenance of the Water Pollution Control Facility within the WPC Division of the Department of Public Works. Operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, dewatering equipment, pump stations, combined sewer overflow (CSO) treatment facilities and disposal equipment in compliance with the U.S. EPA NPDES permit
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:
– Identifies, plans, and delegates specific task for first and second shift operational teams so that staff are properly occupied, and the work goals/operational needs of the plant are met.
– Ensures all equipment is working correctly with adequate back up and replacement parts on inventory.
– Accepts chemical deliveries to ensure all off-loading is performed to City standards.
– Observe all confined space entry requirements, responsible for the upkeep of city equipment.
– Provides chemical spill response for Public Utilities depa1tment, both city wide and for the Public Utilities division facilities. Adheres to waste oil control requirements.
– Responsible for maintaining the treatment plant in a clean and orderly
– Performs all related duties to properly maintain Water Pollution Control Works.
– Works with the Waste Oil Manager for this department to be sure all new and used oil is used, stored and disposed of in accordance with WPC policies, State, Local and Federal requirements.
– Performs site inspections of operations. Oversees and assists in the repair of equipment, preventative maintenance, and scheduling and participation of daily, weekly, quarterly and annual maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To be minimally qualified for this position, one must meet the following criteria:
– High School diploma required. Associates Degree in Environmental Technology/Science or equivalent degree desirable.
– At least three years wastewater operational experience.
– Evidence of substantial mechanical knowledge and leadership competencies.
– Valid Massachusetts Class D Driver?s License (Required)
– Active Grade 6C NA WWTP Operator (Required)
WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a full-time, 40 hour/week position, with a schedule of 7:00 AM ? 3:30 PM, Monday ? Friday.
This role is classified as a UFCW Admin Union, Grade A10, starting at Step 1, with a minimum starting pay of $26.02 per hour, with periodic step and pay increases upon continuous completion of employment with the City of Chicopee.
