Job Summary

A leader within the accounting and compliance functions of the College. Partner in the preparation of the quarterly financial reports, annual audited financial statements, management presentations, and required filings. Manage Smith’s student loan portfolio and coordinate outside loan service providers. This position is responsible for all College billings and collection efforts. Review reconciliations prepared by others and complete reconciliations for assigned areas. Review and post journal entries. Become a Workday subject matter expert and lead trainings for the Smith Community in its use. Understand and enforce policies and procedures. Participate in continual process change and improvement. Support other members of the Controller and Finance department as appropriate.

Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College’s efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)

Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated intermediate accounting knowledge; non-profit and higher education experience preferred. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree and/or professional certification such as CPA preferred. Workday experience.
