Physics Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor?s degree or higher from an accredited institution
2. MA Subject area license or
Subject area license or equivalent issued by another state or
Documented completion of approved undergraduate or graduate program in the relevant subject area: successful passing of the relevant subject area MTEL and Communications and Literacy Skills (01) MTEL within the first year of employment
3. Hold SEI Endorsement, or obtain with the first year of employment
4. Passion for teaching
5. Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students
6. Experience working in an urban setting, preferred
7. Experience working with diverse student populations, preferred
8. Skills in managing challenging student behaviors strongly preferred
9. Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning and execution
10. Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skills

JOB GOAL:

To provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can access and make progress towards Massachusetts standards-based curriculum and develop social and emotional skills in order to participate in society. Provide a safe and supportive educational environment for all students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
– Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students and employs a variety of instructional techniques and media.
– Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
– Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and ? in harmony with the goals ? establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
– Strive to implement by instruction and action the district?s philosophy of education, instructional goals, and objectives.
– Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
– Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations.
– Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested.
– Organize and implement an instructional program that meets the unique learning style of diverse learners
– Create a positive educational environment for all students using a multi-tiered system of supports
– Manages the classroom to maintain a safe, secure and effective learning environment by providing a high degree of structure, clear expectations and consistency
– Maintains a firm, fair and consistent approach to the instruction of students and promotes student involvement by reinforcing positive behaviors
– Ensures the rights of all students are observed and protected through the use of appropriate and respectful communication, proper de-escalation techniques, and correct physical restraint methods when necessary.
– Objectively evaluate academic outcomes through a system of data collection and analysis that drives decision making.
– Use professional quality communication skills to convey information to the student?s team.
– Demonstrate an understanding of functional skills and implement a system of positive behavioral interventions.
– Administer a variety of assessment tools, write detailed reports, summarize the results and provide recommendations.
