Manufacturing Engineer

Position
We seek a diverse, experienced, hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to develop, implement and optimize cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will maximize productivity and safety with effective process improvements, capital recommendations, and work force utilization.

Responsibilities
Promote Safety as the Number 1 priority of all OMG employees.
Support and engage factory in Lean, focusing on process improvement and 5S.
Support product development by designing, prototyping, and testing new/revised products and modifying manufacturing equipment accordingly.
Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including blueprints, quality standards, tool design, process specifications, and communication of goals to the factory.
Design, develop and test and/or source and cost-justify tools, machinery and equipment.
Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality, safety, and efficiency improvements.
Create, evaluate and/or approve drawings, routings, specs, SOPs, training materials and other documents related to the production of existing and new products.
Collect data and report on various factory metrics for management.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a commensurate level of experience with related products.
Above average mechanical aptitude with a talent for dissecting and understanding mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems; a natural desire to learn.
Basic understanding of electronic controls and sensors
Solid understanding of Lean principles (Green or Black Belt preferred).
Demonstrated success achieving cost reduction objectives through process and quality improvement initiatives.
Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational and communication skills.
Ability to overcome obstacles and complete assignments in a timely manner.
Team-oriented approach with a desire to work in a hands-on capacity.
Excellent PC skills including experience with MS Office Suite.
CADD experience preferred, AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks a plus.
Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Good close vision and depth perception skills.
Positive attitude, good judgment and strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
