Heat Treat Operator (Weekend PM)

Located in Agawam, MA

Salary: $19.00/hr.

Our client is looking to fill a roll for a Heat Treat Operator.

This is a weekend position with the hours of 11:00pm – 11:00am.

Responsibilities:

Promote Safety as the number one priority of all employees.
Train employees on Quality processes and procedures as requested.
Conduct periodic physical measurements of finished and unfinished product using scales, verniers, dial indicators, calipers, electronic indicators, pressure sensing instruments, and other more complex instruments, both mechanical and electronic.
Perform routine and special tests and inspections of Sourced Finished Goods and Finished Goods suppliers for adherence to process and quality specifications.
Conduct statistical analyses to support R&D and Manufacturing in the development of new or improved products and processes.
Support Engineering in the qualification of new tooling, processes, and materials through the identification and correction of causes of error.
Analyze complaints of non-compliance to specification submitted to Quality Manager.
Support and engage factory in Continuous Improvement and Lean Principles, including 5S. Develop and maintain Quality System procedures as assigned. Utilize computer software programs to manipulate and transmit data, and prepare unbiased graphical analysis of tested samples.
Participate in studies to verify measurement processes to continuously improve turn around time, precision and accuracy, and reduce paperwork.
Perform in-house calibration procedures for measurement equipment and maintain a gage management system.
Ensure the integrity of the retained physical sample filing system.
Communicate testing and statistical choices used to generate results, and promptly alert supervisors and others to any discrepancies.
Create spreadsheets, graphs and data collection programs to simplify the dissemination of information accumulated in laboratory testing.
Maintain necessary files, records, and computer databases of historical information according to procedures.
Research and implement improved measurement techniques and equipment.
Organize order of tests to maximize testing efficiency.
Seek out innovations in Quality testing and ways in which to reduce testing costs and improve product flow.

Requirements:

Technical experience or Associates Degree in a related discipline (additional education preferred in Statistical Quality Control/Statistical Process-Control, Six Sigma or related coursework).
3 to 5 years of broad technical experience, manufacturing and/or Quality Engineering.
Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational and communication skills.
Strong problem solving and time management skills.
Ability to work 12-hr shift
Team-oriented approach with a desire to work in a hands-on capacity.
Excellent PC skills including experience with MS Office Suite and Minitab.
Positive attitude and good judgment.
Strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and loyalty.
Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Good close vision and depth perception skills.
