About the Farmers Market:
The goal of the Farmer’s Market Manager is to help the community served by Nuestras Races
access healthy food. We do this by bringing food right to people?s doorsteps, selling it at
affordable prices, and by accepting SNAP benefits and other incentives. Our primary motivation
is food justice and service to the community that needs it most. The Nuestras Raices Farmer’s Market operates like a food retail business, buying and selling
products. Customers demand quality, variety, and service every day. The Nuestras Raices
Farmer’s Market goal is to expand direct producer to consumer markets, NR Farm Store, CSA
program, Farm Stand Pop-Ups, and piloting Nuestro Sofrito and any other value-added products. About the Manager position:
The Farmer’s Market Manager will work to develop and expand this new project and coordinate
all ongoing operations including supervise the Mobile Market Manager, Mobile Market Assistant, Farm Store Manager, and all Nuestras Races Markets. Specific tasks include:
Purchasing from local farms and distributors:
Make weekly orders from the Nuestras Races Farm farmers who rent land at La Finca, local and
regional produce distributors, and from other farms as needed. Coordinating logistics of produce delivery: Manage sourcing, purchasing, pricing, inventory, deliveries, handling and storage of
market produce and value-added products ensuring variety and freshness, and reducing
waste .Coordinating with the business manager on cash handling and payments: Manage daily and ongoing sales tracking, implement cash handling procedures, and
handle and track invoices and bills

Upkeep inspectional service permits, board of health permits, and park permits. Upkeep online farmers market listings and databases. Process Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons. Purchase all equipment, materials needed for the farm store, CSA and other market
related materials. Create recipe cards and other marketing materials needed for farm store, CSA, etc. Seek wholesale vendors and all other point of sales opportunities for our farmers. Develop new farmers market aside from the NR farmers markets Supervision of market employees and interns
Volunteer coordination: Work with local organizations and individuals to maintain a consistent volunteer base Supervise volunteers Coordinating with Market sites and seeking out new sites as needed: Ensure that parking is provided and promotion is being done
Promoting the Market through different channels: Flyers, schedules, local radio show appearance and ads. Seek out new marketing opportunities Develop partnerships with business to delivery CSA shares, find wholesale opportunities, and schedule events
Daily operations: Driving the transit unit bus to distribute CSA and attend farmers market, pop up event
and other farmers market activities, stocking produce, customer service, maintaining appearance and appeal of the market. Coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs. Manage incentive and SNAP programs, Data collection and reporting
Collect and use data to inform purchasing requirements, report to stakeholders on sales
and customer statistics in coordination with DAISA and bookkeeper. Work closely with the Farm Training Manager to develop strategies for the CSA, crop
planning, and other duties as required
Identify funding opportunities, communicate with partners, and or others sponsors for the
Mobile Market
