Qualifications:
1. Current State CNA Certificate
2. Graduate of an approved CNA Training Program
3. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language
4. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
5. Must possess the ability to follow a nursing care plan
6. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as being able to handle residents on whatever maturity level in which they are currently functioning
7. Must be able to cope with the mental, emotional and physical stress of the position
8. Must be able to work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and, at times, hostile people within the facility
9. Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend and squat for prolonged periods
10. Ability to push, pull objects and lift/carry up to 20pounds unassisted on a frequent basis and up to 50 pounds or more with assistance on occasion
11. Ability to interact effectively with residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, the general public and other staff members

Purpose of Your Job Position:
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide each of your residents with routine activity of daily living care in accordance with the resident?s assessment and care plan and as may be directed by your team nurse, nurse manager/supervisor.

Job Functions:

General Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Meets Annual Skills Competency requirements
2. Observes and reports to the Licensed Nurse changes in resident status
3. Demonstrates correct Infection Control practices according to JGS Lifecare policies and the OSHA BBP standard
4. Follows the resident care plan
5. Encourages resident to participate, as appropriate, in ADL functions
6. Administers correct food and fluids to residents
7. Demonstrates effective communication skills with residents
8. Answers call lights, personal alarms and door alarms promptly
9. Responds positively and timely to all resident, family and co-workers? requests
10. Is alert to and acts upon any resident safety issue
11. Completes all mandatory inservices
12. Meets JGS attendance requirements
13. Meets JGS non-tardiness requirement
14. Floats according to JGS Lifecare need
15. Adheres to JGS Lifecare dress code
16. Attends and actively participates in wing meetings
17. Attends meetings with ADNS and Administration
18. Attends RCC/MDS conferences as directed by the nurse manager
19. Adheres to expected performance time standards of the wing
20. Demonstrates proper procedures for fire safety
21. Demonstrates respect for resident property by proper handling and storage
22. Maintains a quiet stress free environment by minimizing disruptive actions ? verbal or physical
23. Follows established infection control procedures and universal precautions at all times
24. Adheres to Residents Rights policy including but not limited to confidentiality of all resident care information, insuring resident?s rights to privacy, always knocks before entering a resident?s room
25. Reports complaints and grievances made by the resident to the team nurse
26. Wears and/or uses safety equipment when assisting residents in movement (i.e.: mechanical lifts/ gait belts
27. Operates all equipment in a safe manner according to established procedures.
28. Completes all documentation legibly, accurately and within the designated time frame.
29. Removes from service any equipment that is in need of repair and reports same to team nurse
30. Allows resident to express individuality by non judgmental response to words or actions o
