Description

Behavioral Interventionist

Center School and School Based Services (SBS) invite applicants for Behavioral Interventionist openings (Full time, 10-month positions), supporting our private school in Holyoke (Center School) and SBS programs in the Greater Springfield area. SBS operates with local public school districts and provides collaborative services with the district to provide intensive supports in order to maintain students in their home districts. Position Responsibilities: Assists and supports teachers with both classroom management and educational activities. Provides behavioral (including physical restraints) and psycho-educational assistance to students failing to abide by school routines, program limits and structure. Implements and role models the program model skills.

Completes all required and requested daily documentation (e.g. dailies, incident reports, intervention reports, etc.) and assures documentation is submitted to appropriate location. Serves as 1:1 safety aides and/or academic aides as indicated by student need. Plans, prepares and facilitates a variety of elective activities for students. Supports students? daily routines. Facilitates and/or assists in educational groups as requested. Maintains the safety of the building and utilizes safety protocols including (but not limited to) safety/sharps checks, proactive de-escalation techniques, etc. Attends and participates in all scheduled supervision, staff meetings and training. Provides mentoring and role modeling for new staff. Supervises students who participate in vocational activities. Communicates to Site Coordinator, Teacher, Case Manager and/or Clinical Team on the same business day any pertinent student information in order to update daily routine, academics and interventions.

Communicates to supervisor immediately any information of an emergency nature such as allegations of abuse, self-abusive statements, etc. Transfers classroom and site assignment as indicated by student needs. Position Requirements: Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED and meet one of the following requirements: an Associates’ degree or higher, 48+ college credits, or obtaining a passing score on ParaPro or WorkKeys Assessment. Two or more years experience within special education, milieu treatment or related field, particularly with children on the ASD spectrum and/or social/emotional/behavioral issues is highly desired. Strong verbal/written communication skills and the ability to work as a team member are required.
